Duties and activities of the Federal Assembly
The Federal Assembly has supreme power at Federal level, subject to the rights of the people and the Cantons.
The Federal Assembly consists of two Chambers: the National Council and the Council of States. The two Councils are on an equal level. Each Chamber functions separately; for decisions taken by the Federal Assembly, both Chambers must agree.
